Tommy Westerfield is a Certified Laughter Yoga Teacher who received his training in November 2011 under the instruction of Dr. Mandan Kataria, the medical doctor from Mumbai, India, who created Laughter Yoga in 1995.  Tommy has also studied as a Laughter Yoga Leader with Sebastien Gendry, founder of the American School of Laughter Yoga in Los Angeles.  Kentucky-born and raised, Tommy slowly moved his way to San Francisco over the years as a crisis counselor in Kentucky, a seminary student in Indiana, a Master of Fine Arts graduate in Theatre from Illinois, and an Adjunct Instructor at the University of Northern Iowa.  He is also an award-winning playwright and published writer as well as a certified massage therapist and energy healer.
Whether the drama of his own recent near-death experience or the mundane frustrations of a copy machine that doesn't work, Tommy is a firm believer that there is always a space for laughter to not only exist, but flourish.  He is currently at work on a book about his near-death experience and recovery, the role of laughter in it, and the reconciliations and healing that resulted.
